What Can We Offer Your Child?
What Makes Us Different?
Sunnyside Nursery School opened in 1988 and is run by a qualified
teacher with caring and experienced staff. Our aim is to ensure that all the children in our care have the best possible experiences
so that they progress on to school happy and confident to take on new challenges. We are very fortunate to be situated along
a quiet lane next to farms and fields and have access to visiting animals such as lambs and ducklings as well as other friendly
animals at different times of the year.
We can safely go for walks in our own
fields and examine the changing hedgerows throughout the year. We encourage the children to understand about
the natural world around them by planting seeds and observing their growth in the greenhouse and fruit and vegetable patches.
We are planting more trees including different varieties of fruit; and the orchard garden provides a fun play area to run
around and play ball games.
Outdoor play is very important for physical
development as well as being great fun. We have soft mat surfaces on two play areas outside for safe play in all types of
weather and a soft bark covered area for the larger climbing equipment.
We have recently converted one room into a soft play area for a variety of fun
activities. Learning opportunities and activities are planned within the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Thus providing
broad rich learning experiences tailored to the individual stages of development of each child. The six main areas of learning
are:
•
Personal, Social and Emotional Development •
Communication, Language and Literacy
• Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• Knowledge and Understanding of
the World
•
Physical Development
• Creative Development
In this way we are able to help children develop all their skills, including learning to read, write and understand
numbers, at their own pace through a variety of enjoyable activities, appropriate to their individual stage of learning.
We have now extended our hours of opening for those requiring a longer day. We are
open for 50 weeks of the year from 8am until 6pm* (Please check for any alternative times) We are able to
care for children up to the age of 5 years; with older children also welcomed in the holidays.
• We can offer up to 15 hours FREE childcare per week with Government vouchers which we can
apply for on your behalf for all children commencing the term after their third birthday. This is due to be extended to two
year old children in the near future. The vouchers are for all eligible children and are not means tested. You are simply
required to provide a copy of their birth certificate or passport or other appropriate document and to complete two forms.
Once accepted by the county, children can access the free sessions, the times of which can be arranged to suit you, as far
as possible.
Finding the right nursery for your child is very important
and so we are pleased to welcome visitors and to offer taster sessions for children to find out how much they will enjoy their
experience with us.
